Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of church is Palos Community Church?
PCC is part of ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians. For a deeper dive into our denominational beliefs and congregational mission, vision and values, check out our Mission & Beliefs page.
What is your worship service like?
Whether you're new to church, returning after some time away or looking to encounter God with a new church community, you'll be welcomed at PCC. Our contemporary service features live-band worship music, while incorporating traditional worship elements such The Lord's Prayer and the Apostle's Creed, in addition to theologically sound, relevant messages preached every week. Our services are fully rooted in scripture, offering praise and glory to God alone. Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month and is open to all people who believe in Jesus Christ as their only Lord and Savior. Services last about an hour.
Do you have a Kids Ministry?
Yes! During the 10:00 worship service our potty trained 3-year-old's through 5th graders meet downstairs with trained and background checked volunteer leaders for an active and exciting time to learn about Jesus in our PCC Kids ministry.

We also provide Nursery care for infants and toddlers age 0-3. All nursery volunteers are trained and background checked.
Are children allowed in worship?
Yes! If you'd prefer to keep your children with you in the sanctuary during worship you are welcome to do so.

Also, in any month with 5 Sundays, we hold a "5th Sunday Family Service" where all of the children in the congregation are encouraged to join their parents and caretakers in the sanctuary during worship.

If you or your little one need a break, we have a Nursing Room available with a comfortable space for you and baby to feed, change, or rest (or not!) with a livestream monitor available so you don't have to miss the service. The Nursing Room is located down the hallway from the main entrance - third door on the right.
Do you have something for Middle School and High School students?
Our PCC Students group (6th-12th graders) meets weekly on Sunday afternoons and have a ton of special events and outings throughout the year, including an annual mission trip.
Do you have anything for us "more mature" folks?
Our NeverBetters ministry provides a way for those who are 65+ to connect and serve together.  The NeverBetters host monthly lunches plus several annual outings and events including a Bunco tournament, a Windy City Thunderbolts baseball game and more!
Do you have Small Groups?
We have three sessions of small groups - fall, winter and spring; each lasting 8-10 weeks. We have bible study groups, groups that read and discuss books of the Bible, groups that discuss hot button cultural topics, groups for moms of young kids...if you want it you can find it in one of our groups.
Do you have any service opportunities?
We strive to offer frequent service opportunities, whether within the church itself or in our local or regional community.

We also have many volunteer Leadership Teams to serve the congregation of Palos Community Church and utilize the God-given gifts within our congregation. Whatever your skill set (music, finance, admin, childcare, missions, service...etc. etc. etc!), there's a place for you to use it here!
Is your church accessible and can you accommodate disabilities?
Our sanctuary is fully accessible for worship service, including a section of moveable seating to accommodate mobility devices. We also have a wheelchair available to borrow onsite if you need mobility assistance to get to the sanctuary.

Handicap and seniors parking spaces are available on the east side of the building, right in front of the main doors on S. 88th Street.

Our fellowship hall and restrooms are accessible by elevator to the lower level.

Being a 100+ year-old building, there are areas that are not currently fully accessible, but should you need assistance please don't hesitate to ask a member of our Connect Team who will be present at the main doors when you arrive. In our upcoming remodel project through the Greater Than Capital Campaign, we will be fully updating our spaces to meet  current accessibility standards.

If you have specific accessibility or accommodation requests, the best thing to do is let us know you're coming ahead of time so that we can collaborate on a solution to meet your needs.

Have a request or need more information? We'd love to hear from you.
